Still in the patriotic spirit, I wanted to pay tribute to the only thing more American than apple pie, denim, and some of my favorite iconic looks that have solidified its lasting presence. Above, some looks from The Archive to capture the all-American spirit!

Giving inspiration to hipsters everywhere, I love Marilyn Monroe’s toned down sex appeal in rolled up, high waisted denim from Clash by Night.
In Shampoo, Warren Beatty takes a real leap and plays a total ladykiller. Given the way he looks in those jeans on that bike, it’s no wonder women fall at his feet.
The Dukes of Hazard was never known for it’s cultural relevance, but what all American girl can make it through the summer without a good pair of cutoffs. Unfortunately, few of us look as good as Ms. Duke in ours.
Oh, the infamous Calvin Klein ad in which a young Brooke Shields declares that ‘nothing gets between (her) and (her) Calvins.’
James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. Forever solidifying the American Bad Boy uniform. Sigh.
And, of course, who can forget the official First Lady of Fashion, Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
